A day in the life of The Redfords

Like most wedding professionals, we spend more than one day preparing for every individual wedding that we are lucky enough to be selected for. Leading up to your day we spend time ensuring that we have liaised with the venue, they have all the certificates and insurance documents that they require from us and that they know what time to expect us etc. The band also ensure that they know every beat and note of your first dance and the duo rehearse the ceremony music to make sure our performance is as perfect as your day. The time we leave depends on where the venue is - we travel all over the country, but on an average wedding day the Redfords band members spend their time like this…

9:00 Load the van - all of our industry-standard equipment is stored in a locked unit to prevent any damage. Our flight cases including guitars, drums, microphones, lighting and amplifiers which are loaded on to our Mercedes Sprinter.

9:30 Matthew, George and Cat set off to the venue to arrive about 1½ hours before the ceremony - this is so we can set up for the drinks reception and the ceremony so there is no gap between your guests leaving the ceremony room and arriving at the drinks reception, it also gives us the chance to ensure that there are no technical glitches and that your ceremony will be accompanied with nothing but the beautiful songs that you have chosen.

2:00 Matthew and Cat accompany a beautiful bride down the aisle with a song that the couple have chosen. These songs when they are played live guarantee the emotional and joyous response that you imagine your guests to have as they see the bride for the first time. During the signing of the register, Matthew and Cat perform between 3 and 4 songs that have been selected by the couple - we liaise with the registrars/celebrant/clergyman to instruct us when the necessary legalities have been completed so that your day can move on seamlessly. We then play the newly married Mr and Mrs song of choice as they walk back up the aisle as husband and wife.

15:00 Matthew and Cat will entertain your guests with easy listening love songs during your drinks reception right up until your wedding breakfast. During this time if possible, George will be setting up the band equipment for the evening reception. The band set up includes the choice of white or black backdrop and ambient and disco lighting to enhance the atmosphere of your evening ahead.

16:30 When you are seated for your wedding breakfast, the duo equipment will be packed away, we are conscious to do this out of sight of your guests so that the “backstage” going on, remains ‘backstage’. We will then source food provisions for ourselves, on site if possible or away from the venue, whichever is the most appropriate. We do not expect to be provided with this by our clients as we do not want you to incur any unnecessary expense.

18:00 The rest of the Redfords Wedding Band arrive to sound check and ensure that individual monitor levels and instruments are prepped and ready to go as soon as you are for your first dance. We also change into our smarter than smart black tie dress code which includes ironed white shirts and shined shoes. The Redfords take its appearance as seriously as it’s sound.

19:00 The first DJ set alerts guests to the start of the evening’s celebrations as well as to welcome any evening guests that you may have arriving. The DJ element of our package can be tailored to include any specific songs that you wish to be included.

20:15 The Redfords will start the first set of live music with your first dance. As long as it’s “band” friendly we will perform it live for you. After this we launch into our first set of dance floor classics. We play up until your evening buffet is served, during which we will provide the second DJ set of the evening.

21:45 Second set of the evening includes introducing our famous range of party hats - our premium package includes a documentary photographer ensuring that as well as providing one of the most memorable parties your guests will ever attend as well as documenting it!

23:00 The third and final live music set comprises everyone’s favourite classic anthems taking you through to the end of the evening with a carefully selected playlist resulting with everyone on their feet and sharing the last few moments of your big day.

0:00 When the room has been cleared of guests, the Redfords start to pack down our equipment and load the van, ensuring that we have left the venue in the same condition that we found it. We can pack our equipment away in around 50 minutes.

2:30 Arrive to our lock up to unpack the van and store our equipment securely

3:00 Bed!
