To the casual holiday-maker, a honeymoon may seem like just another holiday. Whilst the elements booked, such as the flights and accommodation, may well be identical to what someone before you has booked, it is the job of my team and I at Travel Designers, to ensure your honeymoon is the perfect fit for you and your partner.
As you can imagine, no two days at Travel Designers are the same. We are asked to organise all kinds of honeymoons and destination weddings, ranging from travelling within a month, to those looking to lock something down for their wedding in two years time. Let me give you a little insight in to what happens the day after I would have met you at a wedding show.
The work day starts for us at 10am, but do forgive me, I do leave the house 90 minute prior to this! Typically we will have collected anything between 15 and 30 honeymoon enquiries from the show, so the first thing we do is put them into date of departure order. Those intending to travel in a few months need to get something booked in as soon as possible to avoid missing out altogether, where as things are a little more relaxed for couples planning in advance. We are a small team, with two full time wedding and honeymoon specialists; Carol and I. Between us, we discuss the requirements of each couple, decide on who has the best knowledge to assist and split the enquiries between us.
Each honeymoon or destination wedding requires a very a different course of action. For example, I know Sri Lanka & Maldives like the back of my hand and can easily tailor-make something to suite pretty much any budget, duration and specification in practically no time at all, and aside from some minor changes, my first suggestion will often be the winning honeymoon. Not all honeymoon ideas are as straight-forward, however, and some require a heap of research.
As Travel Designers is an independent travel agency, we are non-biased in who we work with, though we only work with tour operators that are ATOL protected and offer price-parity meaning it will never cost you more to book through us than it would be if you approached a tour operator directly. We, however, know the companies that offer the best value and experiences, and will often try several tour operators for your honeymoon or destination wedding without you even knowing. Once we are happy with the option and price, that is the option we will offer to you.
So a typical day after the show will involve deciding the best person for the enquiry, tailor-making a bespoke honeymoon or destination wedding for each couple, contacting several different tour operators and finding the best price for the right package, and then getting back in touch with you to hear your feedback. Being an excellent travel agent has really changed over the years. We pride ourselves on our knowledge, personal service, finding the right fit for our customers and finding excellent value for money, and this we do, every single day.
